Canadian National Parks

Top 10 Canadian National Parks for RV Camping

We are having a real Canadian winter here in south-central Ontario- the snow keeps on coming with snowbanks up to our shoulders. The Georgian Bay snow machine shows no sign of slowing down and there appears to be no end in sight. It’s a good time to hunker down inside where it’s warm and plan a summer RV trip.

Are you looking to spend a vacation closer to home this year? Consider Canada- it has so much to offer. The nation is rich with beautiful vistas and uncrowded spaces.

Approximately 2.1 million Canadian households, constituting 14% of the population, own an RV, contributing to an impressive 6.3 million RV trips and $10.3 billion in spending in 2022.Riding mountain National Park Do you want a beach vacay? Prince Edward Island National Park

Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island National Park
I really enjoyed Prince Edward Island National Park. The beaches are natural, the amenities are nicely maintained and the views are spectacular. It is a beautiful, and relaxed area of the country.

Kejimkujik National Park

Nova Scotia
Kejimkujik National Park
I liked Kejimkujik National Park. When we visited our trip was cut short due to evacuation in anticipation of Hurricane Dorian. Hurricanes do not generally reach Nova Scotia so it was our bad luck that this one did.

I will be back to Keji at some point to complete my visit. I would have liked to have paddled Kejimkujik Lake, taken advantage of the dark skies by doing some star gazing, and I would have made a day trip to Kejimkujik Seaside to check out the white sands and the aquamarine water. When I do revisit I will update.

Kouchibouguac National Park

New BrunswickKouchibouguac National ParkKouchibouguac is not a large park, not compared to Fundy National Park which is New Brunswick’s other national park located about 200 km away, but the campsites are large and well laid out.  Kellys Beach is nice and family-friendly. It was perfect for a beach day.  The biking trails are wide and well-maintained and allow access to all points of interest within the park without having to drive your car. The sunsets are beautiful.

Fundy National Park

New BrunswickFundy National ParkFundy National Park is a great park with excellent RV-friendly campsites in a picturesque area of New Brunswick. You can enjoy the park’s amenities or venture out and explore the surrounding points of interest. I enjoyed the nearby attractions as much as the park itself,  I would definitely recommend Fundy as an RV Place to Go!

Forillon National Park

QuebecForillon National ParkForillon National Park was a great stop on our road trip. The activities for viewing the marine wildlife were top notch and I would definitely recommend participating in at least one of the activities offered as a way to fully appreciate the area. I really enjoyed our stay here and except for some parking issues, I can’t see what’s not to like! I would definitely recommend Forillon National Park as an RV Place to Go.

La Mauricie National Park

QuebecLa Mauricie National Park

  • Some breathtaking scenery
  • Fantastic facilities i.e. the comfort stations, the amphitheatres and the recreation areas. Some of the best facilities I have seen anywhere.
  • Good privacy between sites.
  • Well maintained

Point Pelee National Park

OntarioBonus Canadian National Park: Point Pelee National Park in Ontario. You cannot RV camp here though they do have yurts that you can rent if you are interested in an overnight visit. RV camping is available at nearby Wheatley Provincial Park where you can enjoy Point Pelee as a day trip. It is here where you will find Canada’s most southerly tip.Wheatley Provincial Park

Riding Mountain National Park

ManitobaRiding Mountain National ParkRiding Mountain National Park is nice. The campsites at the Wasagaming campground are laid out efficiently and overall I found the campground quiet considering the number of sites compacted into the area.

There are many activities in the area you can enjoy. It is a nice place for young families and older folks. I would recommend Riding Mountain National Park as an RV Place to Go.

Grasslands National Park

SaskatchewanGrasslands National ParkGrasslands National Park is remote, it is not easy to get to. There are limited amenities- you will need to come self-contained. There are no beaches, boating or flashy attractions, so if that is what you are looking for I would not recommend Grasslands.

However, if you want space and the untouched natural beauty of a land as it has been for centuries. If you don’t mind “roughing it” for the opportunity to enjoy peace and solitude.  If maybe holding a dinosaur bone in your hand, or gazing at a vast sky full of stars on a clear night IS what you are looking for then I would recommend Grasslands National Park as an RV Place to Go!

Banff National Park

AlbertaBanff National ParkBanff National Park is stunning. The park is large and its proximity to Jasper National ParkKootenay National Park and Yoho National Park not to mention various provincial parks in the vicinity make the entire area a natural wonderland to explore. I would definitely recommend it as an RV Place to Go to all who want to visit the Canadian Rockies. Its proximity to Calgary makes it an ideal place to use as a base for day trips, while at the same time, you can get lost in the park’s natural beauty.

And if you think I have forgotten about British Columbia and its beautiful Canadian National Parks, I have not- Pacific Rim is our trip this summer. I’ll update with a review after we have enjoyed what I know will be a stunning park.

(Also don’t feel left out Newfoundland- I have been to your great province and I have been to Terra Nova National Park, unfortunately not with an RV so I have not written a review but it is on my bucket list to return).Canadian National Park

Enjoy your Canadian Summer!
